The most surprising signing this summer by any team has probably been Michael Owens move to Manchester United. It was thought that Owen’s future lay at a team in the lower half of the table but Sir Alex decided to take a chance on the former Newcastle, Real Madrid and Liverpool striker and give Owen the chance to get back to the top of his game and not only win trophies but win his place back in the England team.

There was much debate over what number Michael Owen would be handed at Man Untied but it has been confirmed that he will be given the no.7 jersey which means he will follow in the footsteps of some Manchester United legends.

George Best, Bryan Robso, David Beckham andmost recently Cristiano Ronaldo have al pulled on the no.7 jersey for Man Utd and have all been huge a huge success at the team. This just goes to show the faith that Sir Alex has in Michael Owen and muct be confident that he will play a huge part in Man Utd’s title defence next season.
