Nike will of course be manufacturing the new Barcelona kits and we are still a while away from the official launch by Nike. The new Barcelona home jersey has kept very close to the traditional Barca striped design with a polo shirt style collar on the kit this time around. The Barca home shirt is worn with red shorts and socks which is a change from the normal dark coloured shorts.

The Barcelona away kit is the same colour as the away shirt from a few years ago which was vertically striped but this year the 2010-11 away jersey looks to be plain blue with some yellow detailing on the sleeves and will be worn with black shorts and blue socks.

However Sandro Rosell, a favourite to become president of the club in the summer, has said he would consider putting a sponsor on the front of the Barcelona home and away shirts if it made financial sense for the club.

This is sure to be met with some opposition from fans who will like the lack of sponsor on the front of the shirt or the gesture of having a charity on the front. the truth is though Barcelona could attract a huge amount of money for a sponsorship deal and it could be too costly for them not to do when everyone in football is looking for more and more money.

Ibrahimovic enjoyed a successful time with Inter Milan but the lure of La Liga was just to strong for him and he will wear the number 9 shirt that was vacated by Sanuel Eto’o. The deal taking Ibrahimovic to Barca is one of the biggest ever in football with the deal reported to include 45 million Euros, Sauel Eto’o and Hleb on a season loan.

Real Madrid has reportedly been interested in Ibrahomovic but the player stated that Barca were the only team for him as he proudly held the number 9 jersey he will be wearing next season.

There is little doubt that Ibrahimovic is one of the best players in the world on his day and his international record of 21 goals in 56 appearances for Sweden further backs this up, however the attitude and body language of the player is often questioned. As long as Ibrahomovic hits the ground running then he is sure to be a very succesful number 9 for the club with the Ibrahimovic shirt certain to become a huge seller before long.

With a team like Barcelona with all this history, it is only fitting that their kit represents all this, and the new home shirt does not disappoint. The new Barcelona home shirt 09-10 brings a return to the multi-stripped red and blue design seen in previous seasons, which could be described as a vast improvement on the controversial blue and red halves seen on last years shirt. Featuring a blue v-neck collar, with yellow trim to compliment, this latest incarnation of the famous Barca jersey really does stand out from those of previous seasons. This latest shirt again features the yellow UNICEF logo with FC Barcelona badge above to the wearers left and the famous Nike tick in yellow to the wearer’s right. It also features the yellow and red stripped tag at the back of the shirt does well to represent Barcelona’s reign as Spanish league champions.

The beauty of this shirt you can imagine the likes of Lionel Messi, Thierry Henry and Samuel Eto’o and any Barcelona fan pulling on the jersey with pride, honour and a feeling of style, while still feeling comfortable, this latest shirt really does stand out in the crowd. Overall I would give this shirt… 4/5.
