The current deal that Liverpool have with Carlsberg earns them a reported £8 million a year but they are believed to be looking at deals that could secure them almost double that amount. The current deal with Carlsebery runs out at the end of the 2009-10 season with Liverpool being unable to look for potenial replacements until June of this year.

Standard Chartered have become early front runners to take over the Sponsorship of Liverpool. Standard Chartered are a London based banking firm who were reportedly interested in sponsoring Manchester United before they opted for AON but the company have now switched their attentions to Liverpool.

Nothing has been finalised as of yet and it is still possible that Liverpool and Carslberg could continue the long relationship they have had together but Liverpool are said to be seriously considering other sponsorship deals as they look to capitalise on their 2nd place spot in the league last season.

Liverpool are one of the most followed teams in the world and have many global supporters. Liverpool hold a fierce rivalry with across town rivals Everton as well as a competitive rivalry with Manchester Team and current English Champions Manchester United. Liverpool famously overturned a 3-0 deficit in the Champions League final against AC Milan in 2005 to complete one of the best comebacks ever. This victory renounced Liverpool as one of the potent forces in world football.

On a domestic level, Liverpool have won, 18 first division titles, 7 FA cups, 10 Charity shields and 5 which were shared with another club. They have also won 7 league cups.

On the European stage Liverpool have achieved a great deal of success. Honours Include 5 European cups including 1 Champions league, 3 UEFA Cups and 3 Super Cups.

The Liverpool home kit features a red shirt design. The collar has a white border around it which becomes thicker at the front of the shirt. As with many previous Liverpool shirts there is the Carlsberg sponsorship logo centred in the middle of the shirt. The Shirt features the famous Liverpool Club Crest to the wearers left, with the Adidas logo central towards the top f the shirt. This Liverpool kit features the trademark Adidas stripes down the sleeves, which makes it instantly recognisable.

With this new kit Liverpool are bound to achieve some success having narrowly missed out on a premiership title last season, and is sure to provide an interesting league campaign next season, the likes of Gerrard Torres and Alonso, should he stay, will be very exciting for any Liverpool fan, and even some neutrals.

Overall Liverpool always seem to look smart in their kits with the emphasis mainly being on tradition.  If I was a Liverpool fan I’d be very happy with the shirt, and the fact that the shirt colours are identical to the colours in the Liverpool badge is no coincidence.

Liverpool are one of the most well known football clubs in the world, with many great players having worn the strip shuch as Rush, Dalglish, Keegan and others over the years.  Nowadays Liverpool are becoming title challengers under the management of Benitez, with players like Torres Gerrard, Babel, Kuyt, Carragher, Benayoun and others who are all household names.  Benitez will no doubt be hoping the the new shirt gives Liverpool a bit of extra luck in their push for title glory in the new season.

There are many star names to choose from for a Liverpool fan to get put on the back of their football kit.  If I was to pick some official shirt printing I would probably go for Gerrard as he has been a great performer for them over the years, a key player for them in the big games, never shirking from the responsibility of Liverpool captain.  His desire now if to lift the Premier League trophy and maybe this will be the kit he will be wearing when it happens.

This football kit will also double up as the Liverpool European Kit and be worn in the UEFA Champions League next season as the clubs main shirt.

The new Liverpool football shirt will not be officially unveiled until the 27th August 2009 but we can confirm the design will be as shown in the image.

As always, the Liverpool 3rd shirt will be manufactured by Adidas and will feature the adidas 3-stripes on the shoulders and at the end of the sleeves.

The shirt is predominantly white in colour with red Adidas stripes.

The collar is a crew neck collar and isn’t too restrictive.  As with the home strip, you’ll find the gold Adidas logo in the centre beneath the collar, the Liverpool crest, along with the instantly recognisable Liver bird, embroidered on the left hand side of the chest and the Carlsberg logo in gold across the middle.  The three Adidas gold stripes run halfway down the sleeves with thin red piping bringing it back up to the collar.  With the official Adidas Climacool design integrated into the strip, you’ll find the small breathing holes on top of the shoulders and underneath the arms – perfect for keeping you dry whilst you waltz around the midfield like Stevie G!  On either side at the bottom of the shirt, you find the Climacool symbol and a smart circle Adidas badge.

If you decide to have your football shirt printed with your favourite player, then this will be in the same gold colour as the rest of the strip – how about Gerrard 8?

Hopes are high for next season for Rafa Benitez and Liverpool after closing the gap on champions Manchester United.  With the sale of Robbie Keane last year, it only left Fernando Torres as the only recognisable striker on their books.  They have a sturdy keeper, reliable back four and abundance and wealth in talent in midfield, including the ever impressive, Steven Gerrard – it’s only their frontline that needs to urgent improving.  Only time will tell if Rafa decides to open the cheque book and splash the cash on a much needed top quality striker.

This shirt was an undeniable success.  It is all too easy to adorn modern shirts with unnecessary additions; however Adidas kept its looks simple, yet stylish.  In 1964, Bill Shankly first sent Liverpool out all in red, and from that day on it was the tradition.  Relatively few embellishments allows for the dominance of red, supposedly symbolising danger and power.  The shirt is lightweight, making it very comfortable to wear.  In particular, the fabric means that when playing in the rain, the wearer is not restricted by the wet and heavy fabric, whilst in the sun excess sweat is quickly removed.  The shirt doesn’t just look good on the football pitch; it is a smart shirt to wear off it as well.  With Liverpool edging towards success on the pitch, the shirt is a must have for any Liverpool fan.

Modelled by captain Steven Gerrard, the new black Liverpool kit is manufactured by Adidas and features a round collar and the 3-adidas gold stripes running down from the collar towards the sleeves.
