The AC Milan shirt has been worn by some of the greatest players in footballing history, including Maldini, Baresi and Van Basten. One of the great powerhouses of world football, Milan continue to be a name synonomous with glory and trophies. Their classic red and black striped shirt has become feared by many and symbolises a team which has earnt the respect of the footballing world. However, they can’t always wear this home shirt! And for fans who want to add the classic away shirt to their collection then this would be an ideal purchase.

The design of the shirt itself is bright white with the classic red and black piping with the same pattern repeated on the collar and sleeves. A classic design which AC Milan have used for several years, the shirt looks very attractive and one which i would be happy to wear. It appears fashionable and offers a slimline fit, ideal for playing in or wearing anywhere. The aspect of the shirt which I feel is disappointing is the fact that the shirt is identical to last year’s but for a slightly different collar. Although the shirt still looks appealing and would be a good buy if you don’t currently own one, this feels like a slightly tasteless attempt to cash in on the popularity of the club and perhaps a new shirt should not have been released if no significant changers were to be made.

A reason to buy the shirt would be for the addition of a name and number on the back, and who better than Filippo Inzaghi. A fantastic club servant for Milan, Inzaghi has scored countless goals for the club and is the highest scorer ever in European competitions with a mammoth 68 goals. Although often derided for his all round play, Inzaghi should be correctly remembered for his remarkable prowess infront of goal, and I feel adding his name to this shirt would be a great testament to his years of service and goals for Milan.

Overall, I feel that this shirt would be a worthwhile purchase if you do not currently own an AC Milan away shirt as the design is fantastic and could be even more worthwhile if a name is added to the back such as Inzaghi. However, fans who own last season’s shirt may be disappointed by the similarity.
