Huddersfield Town Release Limited Edition Charity Shirt

Published on: 1st February, 2010 | Comments(0)

Huddersfield Town announced in 2009 that it was giving it’s shirt sponsorship to the Yorkshire Air Ambulance charity for the next three seasons to try and raise awareness of the charity and help them meet their £7,200 a day costs to keep the helicopter in the air.

Over the last year the club have done a number of activities to help raise awareness for the charity with the latest coming at the weekend when they released a limited edition, only 500 being made, charity football shirt which they wore against Southend United. This was the first time in their 98 year history they hadn’t worn their traditional blue in a home game.

The Huddersfield Town charity shirt is bright red and yellow vertical stripes with red shorts and socks.

“We have produced 500 shirts which will go on sale immediately after the game with all the money going to the Keep It Up campaign,” said Commercial Director, Sean Jarvis, whose brainchild it is.

“None of our supporters knew that the team would be running out in this kit; all they knew is that they would need their sunglasses! It’s certainly bright and it’s a ‘love it or hate it’ colour scheme, but it’s all for a good cause and I am sure they will prove popular.

“The shirts are red and yellow stripes to signify the red in the Yorkshire Air Ambulance logo and the yellow mirrors the colour of the Air Ambulance itself. I have to thank the Football League and the players and coaching staff for letting us do this. It’s a great example of everyone pulling in the same direction for a good cause.”
