Sporting de Gijon play in La Liga after winning promotion in the 07-08 season and finished 14th in the first season in La Liga for 10 years. The squad is almost entirely made up of Spanish players with only two exceptions.

Sporting de Gijon have released 3 new football kits for the 2009-10 season. The kits will be manufactured by Astore with their badge appearing on the right chest and the club badge on the left.

The new Sporting de Gijon home shirt is red and white vertical stripes with a red collar and red shoulders. The home kit is complemented by blue shorts and red and blue socks.

The new Sporting de Gijon away shirt is all red while the new Sporting de Gijon 3rd kit is navy with some red detailing.
