The start to the new La Liga season will see the return of the traditional stripe patterned home shirt for Barcelona. Last season although the colour were similar, the design was more of a half and half pattern which was nice for a change but I think this one looks a bit more of a Barcelona football shirt to me. Barcelona who play their home games at the Camp Nou have been playing some excellent football over the last few years, which has been rewarded by the silverware they have won recently, most notably their Champions League successes against Arsenal in 2006 and Manchester United in 2009.

There did look like there was going to be a period when they would have to endure a trophy less period but the appointment of Josep Guardiola prevented that from happening. He got them playing the football he wanted almost immediately with devastating effects.

The new Barcelona home kit will undoubtedly be a hit with the supporters, particularly because of all the star names that you can associate with the shirt, from the likes of Messi, Henry, Eto’o, Bojan, Toure, Puyol, and Alves. They all play great flowing football with lots of goals and style. If I could chose a name to be on the back of my Barcelona shirt I would probably go for Henry for his Arsenal links, but you could even go a step further and get a legend put on the back of your shirt, what about Lineker, Romario, Ronaldo, Stoichkov or Rivaldo? I am sure there are many other big names who you associate with Barca that I have not mentioned, I don’t think it is very hard to find a great player who has had a link with Barcelona at some point of his career, you could even include Cesc Fabregas in that group!
