The new Bundesliga season sees Bayern Munich wearing a new home shirt, going back to a more traditional look. Previously the Bayern Munich home shirt was red and white hoops but I didn’t like that look very much, it reminded me a bit more of a rugby top, but the new shirt looks more like what a football shirt should look like. It is still in Bayern’s main colours of red with white trim but there is also a round collar with the pattern narrowing down and meeting at the middle of the chest, it looks quite smart. And there are stars over the Bayern logo with represent the number of times that they have won the European Cup I think. The shoulders and sleeve edges have the three stripes associated the kit maker, Adidas. Overall I think this is a nice shirt and I would be proud to wear it if I was following this team.

Bayern are well known as the biggest team in German football, Borussia Dortmund overtook them in the 90’s in particular with their success in Europe, but then Bayern came back to dominate and conquer Europe, with titanic battles against other big European teams like Arsenal and Manchester United.

Bayern finished the 08-09 season in 2nd place in the league which they will be looking to improve on in the new season. They have many big name players who could help them make the difference, such as Ribery, Klose, Van Bommel, Toni and Lucio. You could choose any of these players to be the name on the back of your Bayern top, or why not go for a legend like Effenberg, Beckenbauer or Matthaus? I would probably go for Ribery to be honest because I think he’s a great player, watching him run down the wing with his dribbling skills is unbelievable.
